Ok so, photo sessions can be a little nerve-wracking!

Am I right?

One of the biggest questions I get from clients is, “What can I expect before a photo session?” That’s a great question! If you’ve never had a professional photo session or you’re not too comfortable having your pictures taken, it can be a little nerve-wracking and you might not know what to expect before a photo session! Does this sound like you? I’m here to help!! When you know what to expect ahead of time that starts to allow you to get more comfortable before even stepping foot in front of the camera! Below, I’m sharing what exactly you can expect before a photo session with me!

Finding The Perfect Fit

First things, first. When you’re looking for a Hudson Valley photographer to capture beautiful family photos, engagement photos, or anniversary photos, find a photographer you LOVE! Make sure you like not only their photography editing style but that you also mesh with their personality. Take the time to look through their work and check them out on social media to really get a feel for them. When you get to know your photographer before the session, that’ll ensure that you’ll be more comfortable when it’s time for your photo session!

The Inquiry

First, you inquire, we chat about the type of session you're looking for, a few dates for your session. If you’re looking to book a session during the spring and fall, be sure to inquire at least 4-6 weeks ahead of time! After we’ve chatted about dates and availability, I’ll send over my pricing guide that’s also filled with what to expect before, during, and after a session, along with a little about me!

We're Official!

So, you've chosen the perfect collection for your session, you've reviewed your proposal, and signed on the dotted line! Once we’re official, you'll get a follow-up email that includes the DLP experience guide. This guide is filled with some tips to help have an amazing session, what to expect before, during, and after your session as well as some styling tips! All of this will help you to be SUPER prepared for all the fun that's in store!

Planning Your Session

Next, I'll send over a questionnaire so I can get to know you and your family a little better. We’ll then chat about locations, the vision you have for your session and I’ll send over my location guide. My location guide has some of my favorite locations to choose from. We can work together to find the perfect spot for your session!

One of my favorite things to do is helping my couples and families plan their session whether it’s helping you choose a location or helping you decide on a color palette. Sometimes I get emails saying “I’m sorry to bother you but...I can’t choose a location!” but trust me - I LOVE being a part of the planning process!

I hope this was helpful for you! If you’d like for me to capture your family memories, I’d love for you to contact me HERE!
