Are you thinking about having a summer photo session in the Hudson Valley? YAY!! Summer session are some of my favorites! There's so much variety for families or couples with the blooming trees, summer flowers and of course the longer days!
Even with all of these benefits, one of the biggest concerns I hear from clients around this time of year is “Is it possible to do a Summer Photo Session in this heat?” I totally get that concerns and worrying about the summer heat (hello frizzy hair from me! LOL)! We definitely feel the heat during these Hudson Valley New York Summers! In addition to the heat you might also be thinking “But what about the bright sunlight, and the bugs?!”

Check out the tips below!
1. Dress for the weather! Dresses or skirts are usually my go to for the ladies and plain, "dressier" shorts for guys with a short sleeve button up or short sleeve polo for the guys! And stick to lighter colors that don't attract the sun!
2. Bring water! Keeping hydrated will not only keep you cool but it will also leave your skin looking beautiful and glowy in your photos!
3. Timing is everything! Choose a session time that's early in the morning or later in the evening. The sun will be less harsh and much more soft during these hours which will help make you feel soo much more comfortable during those hot summer days.
4. Shade is your friend! Pick a location with shade! I love a good field with sprawling hills but during the summer I love a location with some open shade. Trees will give you some relief from the hot sun and also give you the chance to have more variety in your photos!
5. Bring bug spray! Tis' the season for those pesky bugs. We all know how bugs can be during the evening hours just int time for that evening photo session!! Be sure to bring bug spray just in case.
Summer photo sessions don't have to be hot and stressful. They can also be some of the most beautiful photo sessions around!
