When you book a photo session, you’re not just choosing to have these photos taken to post on social media. You’re preserving your current season of life to be able to look back on them in 5, 10, and 20+ years from now!
These memories are ones that carry with you throughout your life, display in your home , and one day will be a part of your grandchildren's life.
Pictures are a huge part of the legacy you leave and that's something I value SO much. In order to preserve these memories, we need to do a little bit of planning!
Here’s 4 Ways to have timeless photos!
1. Neutrals + Pastels
Color has one of the BIGGEST impact on your photos. When you choose colors that are more subtle, you’re adding to the timelessness of your final photos. Lighter colors will never feel dated, so when you’re looking back on your photos in 20+ years you’ll be fall even more in love with your photos!
2.Dress it up!
Have a photo session is such a special occasion- I mean we’re preserving your family memories after all! So your outfits should reflect just how special these photos are. Opt for a dress instead of jeans and old nay flip flops or a cute dressy + classy romper! For the guys, dress pants and a button up are always a great classic option!

3.Choose a Timeless Location
Be in nature. To create something timeless, you need to keep it simple. That’s why choosing a location in nature (ex: a garden, a gorgeous field, mountain backdrops etc) is always a really great idea! Another plus for choosing a location that’s more simple, we get the chance to get REALLY creative. Why? Because with a more simple location, we really get to focus on the moments we’re photographing so we also get to be SUPER intentional with what we’re preserving!
4. Quality Prints.
When it comes to printing, choose a high-quality pricing company. If you photographer offers printing, be sure to take them up on it!
The lab I use for my clients prints are from a professional photo lab that prints photos on high-end photo paper that will not change color over time and that will ensure color accuracy. If you choose have your images printed at Target, Walmart, etc…. I can’t guarantee that your colors and skin tones will be accurate.
Also, always choose a matte finish over a glossy finish! Glossy adds unnecessary glare to your photos. Think about it, if you’re displaying them in your home, you’ll already be adding a glare from the glass of the frame you choose, there’s not need to have extra glare on your photos.
Matte adds a high-end look to your final images that you just can’t get with a glossy finish.
